Tankless water heaters are typically very easy to maintain we will go over common problems and how to repair them quickly.

Common tankless problems include:

  • Water is taking too long to get to the fixtures.
  • Heater is shaking and making loud noises.
  • Water flow is reduced to a trickle.
  • Water gets hot and then cold and then hot again.

Solutions to these common problems:

  • The best way to decrease the amount of time it takes to get hot water to the fixctures is with the installation of a recirculation pump.
  • To stop a tankless water heater from shaking violently you need to adjust the gas pressures with a mammometer (purchased at the supply house around $50 dollars) The manufacturer will tell you how to adjust it properly with your mammometer readings
  • Water flow being reduced to a trickle is usually the filter screen at the incoming cold water line to the heater on the heater its self. You simply cut off the power and the water to the unit and clean out the screeen on the filter.
  • Water getting hot and cold is called a cold sandwich. It's a common problem on units that are under rated for the amount of fixtures it will be serving. there is more than one way to solve this problem.
  • You can install a small 10 gallon electric heater to eliminate the cold sandwich or you can add another unit. I would suggest adding another unit.
